Meet Dr. Joseph Banno

Dr. Joseph Banno

A native and lifelong resident of Chicago, board-certified urologist Joseph Banno, MD earned his undergraduate degree from Illinois Benedictine College, where he majored in biology and biochemistry. 

Dr. Banno received his medical degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago and spent the first two years of his residency training in general surgery at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. During this time, he became interested in urology and completed his residency at the University of Chicago in the department of urology.

Following his residency training, Dr. Banno joined Peoria Urological Associates in 1980. He is a clinical instructor of urology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. 

Dr. Banno helped develop the Sexual Health and Treatment Center of Illinois – a specialized practice of Midwest Urological Group – as well as the world's first mobile ambulatory surgery center, which can be transported to remote areas of the world.

Dr. Banno is married and has six grown children. When time permits he is an avid cyclist. His other interests include aviation, skiing, tennis, and hunting.
